GREEN CHAMPION AWARD – 2025
The Hon’ble Minister for Environment and Climate Change has made an announcement on the floor of Assembly on 03.09.2021 that “Green Champion Award” will be presented to the individuals and organizations that participate proactively and make exemplary contribution to environment protection from the financial year 2021-2022 onwards at a cost of Rs.1.0 Crore. The awardees will be presented with prize money of Rs.1 Lakh each for 100 awardees every year.
In accordance with the said announcement Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) proposed to honour Green Champion Awards for the year 2025 to Organization/ Educational Institutions/ Schools/ Colleges/ Residential Welfare Associations/ Individual(s)/ Local body/ Industries who have made exemplary contribution towards Environment Conservation and Protection in any such sphere of relevant activity including but not limited to the following areas:
1. Environmental Education and Training
2. Environmental Awareness
3. Environmental Protection
4. Research and Scientific Studies for a New Innovative Green products/Green technology
5. Sustainable Development
6. Solid Waste Management
7. Water Conservation and Water Bodies Protection
8. Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation
9. Emission Reduction
10. Control and Recycling of Plastic Waste
11. Eco-restoration, Conservation Measures
12. Coastal Area Protection etc.,
13. Other Eco related projects
TNPCB will select 100 Organization/ Educational Institutions/ Schools/Colleges/ Residential Welfare Associations / Individual(s)/Local body / Industries every year through a District Level Award Committee (DLAC) headed by the respective District Collectors. The format to be filled up for the above said award is available at TNPCB website. (www.tnpcb.gov.in). Last date of submitting proposal for Green Champion Award 2025 to the District Collector is 20th January 2026.
